On November 1st, the new album Einaudi by Lavinia: Passaggio was released. This album contains a very personal selection of works from composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi, including Divenire, I Gorni, Le Onde and Nuvole Bianche. The album marks Lavinia’s debut with Sony Classical International and will be released world wide in 2014.
From the first moment that Lavinia came into contact with Einaudi, she has become more and more moved and inspired. She was confident that these pieces, originally written for piano, would also lend themselves to the harp. This confidence was supported by the composer himself after Lavinia performed her interpretation of the pieces for him earlier this year.
“Following his instructions, for which I thank him, I fully embraced his music. I realized that I could lose myself in it. I was obsessed by my search for a way to play his music in all its beauty while at the same time bringing my own personal insights into it. I knew that I would one day record this music and, indeed, that it was inevitable that I should do so,” says Lavinia.
She will perform Einaudi’s pieces live in the coming period in various venues, including Paradiso, Het Paard van Troje, 013, De Vorstin en Metropool. In addition, an extended tour is planned for the coming spring.
Einaudi by Lavinia: Passagio was recorded in the Main Hall of the former East German radio- and studio complex, Funkhaus. This studio is renowned for its perfect acoustics and has therefore been used to record albums of many greats, including Lang Lang, Sting and Murray Perahia. This album is produced by ‘Tonmeister’ Andreas Neubronner, who has received Grammy Awards for 13 of his productions.
