A visionary harpist
The Dutch newspaper Trouw wrote the following about her new CD “Visions”
“A visionary harpist”
“The Dutch television channel, NPS, is showing a lot of interest in the harpist, Lavinia Meijer, who won the Dutch Music Prize at the end of October. In a documentary, Meijer is being followed in her path to the Dutch Music Prize and during this festive concert she performs the Harp Concerto by Henk Badings and “In Balance” by Isang Yun. The piece by Isang Yun appears also on her new CD, named “Visions”. After a previous splendid CD, with a more classical repertoire, here Meijer swims like a fish in the more contemporary waters. From Britten’s Suite (magnificent!) from 1969 to the fascinating “Bugs” by Paul Patterson from 2006. With perfect technical suppleness, Meijer puts herself into the music, but above all, she knows how to create fantastic, very diverse atmospheres. Anyone who thought that harp music was boring or uninteresting should listen to this CD. Meijer is a visionary top musician!”
